Cruise Ship Accidents in Plantation
Plantation Personal Injury Lawyer
Cruises are meant to be relaxing, luxurious escapes from the trials and tribulations of everyday life, but as many individuals find out each year, a cruise vacation can quickly turn sour. Injury and death on cruise ships are often entirely preventable, which is why injured victims become so frustrated. When you board a cruise ship, you expect a safe, fun, enjoyable vacation, not a dangerous, treacherous environment. Sometimes inadequate maintenance, security, and safety inspections can lead to an injury; in these cases it will become necessary to take legal action against the responsible party to obtain compensation.
At the Law Offices of Jason T. Corsover, we represent individuals who have been injured aboard cruise ships for personal injury &
wrongful death lawsuits. There are many ways a person can be injured while on a cruise ship, and a
Plantation personal injury lawyer from our firm can help clients with the following types of incidents & injuries:
- Slip & fall accidents
- Sexual assault / physical battery by a cruise employee

About the Costa Concordia Accident
On January 13, 2012 the Costa Concordia ran aground off the coast of Isola del Giglio, Tuscany – leading to one of the worst cruise ship accidents in recent history. The ship, which was operated by Costa Crociere, had over 4,200 people on board with over 3,000 passengers and over 1,000 crew members. As of April 2012, there were over 30 people who were reported to have died in the incident and over 64 who were injured.
It is reported that Captain Frencesco Schettino had taken the ship off of its natural course in order to do a "near shore salute" to the people of the Isola del Giglio. Unfortunately, the ship hit a reef from going too close to the shore and began to take on water. The ship began to list quickly – so fast in fact, that there was difficulty with the lifeboat evacuation as the boats were almost impossible to launch from the angle.
There was significant controversy following the Costa Concordia tragedy with the actions of the captain of the ship who faced criminal charges for manslaughter, abandoning ship and causing a shipwreck. It was reported that the accident was caused by the captain getting too close to the shore. Beyond that, the captain was accused of abandoning ship before all passengers had been evacuated.
While not all cruise ship accidents and injuries are of this magnitude, if you have been injured due to the wrongful actions of another, it is in your best interests to get the involvement of a lawyer that you can trust.
